The Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development and Environmental Studies of the Danube Region was a speaker at the panel ‘Efficiency of enhancing communication between key stakeholders and civil society in the process of revising the Danube Strategy Action Plan’, which took place within the framework of the VIII Danube Strategy Forum in Bucharest (Romania).
The Chair of the session, Rudolf Schicker, stressed that the purpose of this meeting was to create a platform for reviewing the tasks, activities and projects of strategic interest to all stakeholders and participants of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.
With this in mind, Liliana Ivanova stressed that today the Danube Strategy for Ukraine, which is not a member of the European Union, is one of the tools for integration into the conglomerate of Danube countries and access to financial programmes.
She also spoke about Ukraine’s unique experience in implementing the Danube Strategy, which is based on bilateral cooperation between the public authorities represented by the national coordinator and four regions (Odesa, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi oblasts), whose interests are represented by the Association of Local Governments ‘EU Strategy for the Danube Region’.
