Implementation of the updated state regional policy on the example of the Odesa region

The Association of Ukrainian Regions for the Danube Strategy (Ukrainian Association for the Danube Strategy) together with the Odesa Oblast State Administration and the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine (MinRegion) held a roundtable discussion on the topic ‘Implementation of the updated state regional policy on the example of the Odesa region’.
The focus of the roundtable was to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the Odesa Oblast in the context of Ukraine’s presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.
This important event was attended by Deputy MinRegion Ministers Ihor Korkhovyi and Ivan Lukerya.
They discussed regional issues that require comprehensive solutions, with special attention paid to strategic priorities for the medium term until 2027, taking into account the priorities of the State Strategy and the updated Danube Strategy Action Plan.
Addressing the representatives of local self-government bodies, the Head of the Odesa Oblast State Administration, Serhii Hrynevetskyi, noted that it is very important that each territorial community has a clear and understandable development plan for the future, which will allow it to realise the potential of communities and implement important development projects.
In his speech, Deputy Minister of Communities and Territorial Development Ihor Korkhovyi drew attention to the fact that the presidency of the Strategy opens up new prospects and opportunities for Ukraine to improve cooperation between the countries participating in the Strategy and the European Commission. It will also help support the country’s foreign policy course towards European integration.
‘Implementation of joint projects with EU member states will allow Ukraine to strengthen interregional partnership. In particular, in such areas as the development of transport infrastructure, energy, entrepreneurship, tourism, environmental protection, etc.’, Ivan Lukerya emphasised.
In conclusion, the President of the Association of Ukrainian Regions of the Danube Strategy, Yuriy Maslov, thanked all the participants of the roundtable for their active participation and open dialogue, as the effectiveness depends entirely on close ongoing cooperation and interaction in various areas at all levels.
We hope that the active position of the regions and interaction with the national coordinators has prospects for the successful implementation of regional and local strategic initiatives during Ukraine’s presidency of the EUSDR Strategy.
