Over the years of its activity, the Association of Local Governments “EU Strategy for the Danube Region” has gained unique experience in attracting grants and international technical assistance to strengthen the role of civil society in assisting the government in implementing the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.

In 2018, the Association initiated the 3rd Day of Ukraine’s Participation in the Implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region in Odesa. This event was combined for the first time with the 2nd Donor Conference “Danube Dialogue on Financing and Capacity Building” – a platform for communication between project initiators and donors.

Working within the framework of the platform made it possible to take a deeper look at the needs and problems faced by project initiators. Donors were able to present financial opportunities (public and private) for various initiatives in the Danube region. Conditions were also created for strengthening cooperation between interested parties.

Overall, the forum aimed to discuss the existing tools to facilitate Ukraine’s participation in the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, including institutional capacities and financial opportunities for conducting relevant activities.

In 2020, the Association of Local Governments “EU Strategy for the Danube Region” signed an agreement with the Joint Technical Secretariat of the Romania-Ukraine Joint Operational Program 2014-2020. The result of signing the agreement was the opening of the Ro-Ua Branch Office in Odesa, aimed at ensuring communication between grant beneficiaries and stakeholders in the Odesa region.

One of the main financial instruments of cooperation in the field of overcoming common problems in the Danube region is the Danube Transnational Program.
