The local Association of Local Governments ‘EU Strategy for the Danube Region’ together with the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine for the second time organised a number of events within the framework of the VIII EU Danube Strategy Forum, which took place in Bucharest (Romania).
Ukraine uses the forum as a platform for discussing various issues of cooperation and partnership, searching for common problems and tools to solve them, and project initiatives.
For the first time ever, the Ukrainian delegation was headed by Taras Tokarsky, National Coordinator of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region in Ukraine, Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine for European Integration. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Romania Olexander Bankov was the guest of honour at the event.
The EU Strategy Forum for the Danube Region is an annual event aimed at consolidating key stakeholders interested in the implementation of the EU Danube Strategy, including representatives of central and regional authorities, civil society, academic and expert community, politicians and local actors, and improving interaction and coordination between them.
The VIII Danube Strategy Forum is the flagship event of the Romanian Presidency in the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (hereinafter referred to as the EUSDR).
The motto of the Romanian Presidency is ‘Cohesion for shared prosperity in the Danube Region’.
The main goal is to update the EUSDR priorities on the eve of 2020 with a focus on creating synergies between the objectives of macro-regional strategies, EU operational programmes and policies of the EUSDR member states.
