Yuriy Maslov, President of the Association of Ukrainian Regions “EU Strategy for the Danube Region”, took part in an important professional event — the 5th Annual All-Ukrainian Roundtable “EU Integration Trends in the Development of Local Self-Government: Challenges of War and Post-War Recovery”, which traditionally brings together leading experts in public administration.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Larysa Komasa, Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Public Administration and Civil Service at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and Viktoriia Koltun, Head of the Department of Regional Policy, for the high professional level of the event and their systematic efforts to strengthen the modern Ukrainian school of public administration.
The roundtable served as a platform for a constructive dialogue on what local self-government should look like after Ukraine’s victory, how to preserve and reinforce the capacity of communities, and which tools of cross-sectoral cooperation are most effective in the context of post-war recovery.
Special attention was given to the development of local self-government amid the formation of agglomerations and the growing responsibility of large cities — topics the Association is already working on together with the Kyiv-based think tank Think Ukraine.
During his speech, the President of the Association shared insights on the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region and presented the opportunities and instruments offered by the Danube Region Programme. It is encouraging that the Association’s work was positively received by the participants of the discussion.
We will continue our efforts to ensure that Ukrainian communities gain access to modern tools for regional development and that EU integration approaches become the foundation for transforming local self-government.
